Bacteriostatic Water. Sterile laboratory diluent containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, used to reconstitute lyophilized research material. For laboratory research use only.
In stock· Available to order
Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile laboratory diluent: purified water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, a preservative that suppresses microbial growth in the volume remaining in an opened vial. In a laboratory workflow it is the solvent used to reconstitute lyophilized (freeze-dried) research material into a working solution, and to prepare the dilutions and aliquots that analysis requires. Reconstitution and sterile handling are the responsibility of the receiving laboratory. Available in 10mL, 30mL. Store at controlled room temperature, 20–25°C, and protect from light. Ships at ambient temperature. This is a general laboratory consumable rather than a research compound: it is not released against a purity specification and carries no compound Certificate of Analysis. The manufacturer's lot documentation is available on request. For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.

Common questions
Every product is released against a documented identity and purity specification, and each batch is tied to its own Certificate of Analysis. The specification is shown on the product page; the value measured for a specific batch is stated on that batch's Certificate of Analysis, which you can open by scanning the QR code on the vial or by searching the batch number on our Lab Testing page.

Because it is one. The documents currently published against each batch are sample files that demonstrate the format and traceability of our documentation; they contain no laboratory results and should not be relied on as evidence of identity or purity for any batch. Real batch-specific reports replace them, and every sample document is labeled as such in its title and filename so it cannot be mistaken for a released report.
